The film 400 Contra 1 hasn't even hit the theaters and is already generating a polemic centered around if the film will be another story that glamourizes the life of the gangster. The director, Caco Souza, and the co-screenwriter, Julio Ludemir, say that the film does not propagate this and it's ridiculous to think that it will entice people into thinking that the life of crime is glamourous because it's completely displaced from today's reality and the current crime scene - it's about bank robbers, not drug traffickers. These same polemics were raised about films like City of God and Tropa de Elite, but it's a contemporary theme - this film is about a type of criminal that could only exist decades ago... When's the last time you heard about a big bank robbery? Romanticizing bank robbers is pretty outdated, wouldn't you say? That's my opinion on the matter - Guess we'll have to wait 'til the movie comes out and see for ourselves.
