Interview with Angelo B. for "Meu Mapa no Rio" in the Jornal do Brasil two Saturdays ago. Every week they ask an artist residing in Rio what he likes and dislikes about Rio, what's cool and not cool, etc.
The title of the interview is "Kurt Cobain também dá samba" which literally translated means "Kurt Cobain also gives samba." This basically means that you can even take Kurt Cobain's music and make it into samba - which is exactly what Angelo does... and did the night that this article came out in the show that will become Quizomba's first DVD. One of the songs they play, and guaranteed to get those hands up in the air and people rocking out, is "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Here's a photo of that exact moment.
We shot him downtown, next to a small graffiti poem that took some lines from Vinicius de Moraes' timeless song "Berimbau" which I absolutely love:
"Quem é homem de bem não trai o amor que lhe quer seu bem e
Quem diz muito que vai não vai e assim como não vai não vem
O dinheiro de quem não dá é o trabalho de quem não tem
Capoeira que é bom não cai e se um dia ele cai cai bem..."
Here it is a little bigger so you can actually see it:
