Marcelinho da Lua, the DJ of the celebrated Carioca group Bossacucanova, is currently flying over the big pond on his way to rock the Cycle Le Grande Mix du Brésil at the Musée du quai Branly in Paris, part of a two week European tour. Of course this called for a very Rio image and we decided to photograph him and his band at The Maze in Tavares Bastos with the Cidade Maravilhosa stretched out in the background.
Joining him on this tour is the veteran percussionist Laudir de Oliveira - who lived in the United States for almost two decades and played with Sergio Mendes, Santana, Jackson 5, and was a member of Chicago for 8 years; Dado Brother - fellow Bossacucanova drummer; guitarist Felipe Pinaud from the Orquestra Imperial; Marlon Sette (not present in the photos) - trumpeter who has recorded with legendary Brazilian groups like the Paralamas do Sucesso; and my dear friend vocalist/bassist extraordinaire Angelo B. who appears all over my blog and doesn't need any introduction.
