We went to the hotel the other day to see how the pictures turned out and were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful they looked. They were printed onto a sticker that was stuck between two huge glass slabs and hung from the top of the ceiling to the bottom of the floor. Pretty slick, isn't it?!
The name of the hotel is Arena and it is on Avenida Atlantica, right on the shores of Copacabana Beach. It was recently bought by a Spanish company and completely revamped and modernized.
This is in the lobby, where they put another of these glass photo installations. This time it was of a door that we found on one of those beautiful old churches in downtown Rio. I had to stand in the middle of Rio Branco (veeeery big boulevard downtown) and snap the pictures between red lights and hope I didn't get ran over. They printed it on the sticker again, and any white area became translucent... really, it looks like a hologram - almost has a third dimension. Here it is from the front. It would look great in a museum, wouldn't it?!
